Aim, Focus and Scope

Aims

The Journal of BioNano Aquatic Science and Technology (JBAST) is a peer-reviewed and open access biannually (March and September) that published by Perhimpunan Inovasi Teknologi Lingkungan Akuatik (PITLA). The aims of JBAST to serve as a scientific platform for researchers, academics, and practitioners working in the fields of biotechnology, biological processes, bio-based materials, nanotechnology, advanced materials, systems engineering, and intelligent monitoring technologies applied to aquatic environments and resources. JBAST only accepts manuscripts written in full English and processes submitted original script related of scope to fisheries and marine science and not being published by other publishers.

JBAST encourages the publication of research that: supports sustainable management and monitoring of aquatic environments; advances the technology-based utilization of aquatic resources; and delivers innovative materials and systems based on bio approaches (living organisms, biological processes, or biological materials) and/or nano approaches for aquaculture, aquatic organism health, and water remediation.

The journal emphasizes the integration of life sciences, engineering, and data-driven monitoring systems to create innovative solutions that maintain aquatic ecosystem balance and support sustainable food security. The development of JBAST is aligned with the vision of the Perhimpunan Inovasi Teknologi Lingkungan Akuatik (PITLA – Association for Innovation in Aquatic Environmental Technology) and contributes to several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly: SDG 2, SDG 6, SDG 9, SDG 12,  SDG 13, and  SDG 14.

Focus

The scope of this journal includes, but is not limited to, research results from interdisciplinary fields that combine biotechnology and biological processes; bio-based materials; nanotechnology and nanomaterials; advanced materials and systems engineering; and intelligent monitoring technologies (sensors, IoT, AI, data analytics) to develop sustainable solutions for environmental management and the utilization of aquatic resources.

Scope

The Journal of BioNano Aquatic Science and Technology (JBAST) publishes original research, reviews, and short communications on the application of biotechnology and biological processes, bio-based materials, nanotechnology, advanced materials, systems engineering, and intelligent monitoring technologies (sensors, IoT, AI) in aquatic environments and systems. The journal focuses on bio–nano-based materials and processes for water treatment and remediation, smart monitoring of water quality, biotechnology and biological materials for aquatic organism health, technology-based sustainable aquaculture and aquatic food production, as well as environmental safety, ecotoxicology, and socio-economic and risk assessment of bio–nano innovations in aquaculture and aquatic environmental management.
